Handmade Sword (HMS) is a well-known and authentic hand-forged sword company in Walnut, California since 2002. We specialized in hand-forging traditional Japanese samurai swords and iaido training swords—Katana, Wakizashi, Tanto and accessories. Swords from HMS are hand forged in traditional ways by experienced master swordsmiths for martial artists, sword enthusiasts and blade collectors. We believes in keeping customers happy by providing them with great swords and good services.

Traditional Forging Method: Heat Tempered or Clay Tempered.

Blade: All Handmade Sword’s blades are full tang, engraved with signature of sword smith. And it can be fully disassembled and assembled. Most of our functional blades are made of high carbon content steel. Also, there are blades made of stainless steel or aluminum alloy for Iaido training swords.

Tsuba and other fittings: Most fittings are made by brass. For Tsubas, we use coper, or brass, or iron, or alloy. It depends on each tsuba.

Handle and Saya (Scabbard): Wooden or other specified. Most handles covered by rayskin and Japanese cotton Ito.

A long single edged Japanese sword. The katana gets its gentle curve from quenching during forming. It is actually prior to quenching. Differential quenching causes martensite, a steel crystalline structure, to form predominantly in the edge of the blade rather than the back. Katana were the primary weapons of the Samurai.

The Best Companion For your Katana

A traditional Japanese . It is similar to, but shorter than a katana. The wakizashi was usually worn with the katana by the samurai of feudal Japan. When worn together the pair of swords were called Daisho, which translates literally as "large and small". The wakizashi was often called the companion.

Beautiful and Fully Functional

A common Japanese single or, occasionally, double dagger. The tanto was designed primarily as a stabbing instrument, but the edge can be used to slash as well. Tanto first began to appear in the Heian period, however these blades lacked any artistic quality and were purely weapons.
