Note: Not all plants need acidic soil. It's important to know what soil pH level your plants thrive in to avoid harming them and to keep them healthy.

Make sure soil is warm, moist and well aerated to create the perfect environment for bacteria to convert the sulfur to sulfuric acid that can be used by the soil.You may till and water the soil if necessary.

Add sulfur powder six inches deep into the planting site if no plants are present. The amount of sulfur needed depends on the soil's current pH, the desired pH, the clay or sand content of the soil, and the type of sulfur used. Please refer to the chart provided to determine the amount of sulfur your soil type requires.

Note: Do NOT apply sulfur deep into the soil if plants are already present. Apply sulfur powder to the surface of the soil ONLY and water it in to avoid burning the roots of your plants.

Test your soil's pH at a depth of 6 inches every three months after incorporating the sulfur. If the desired pH has not been achieved, add no more than 6 pounds of sulfur per 1,000 square feet to the soil's surface. Repeat the process until the desired pH has been reached.
