What does it mean to be Gluten Free?

Chances are, you've heard of gluten-free recipes and foods. But just what exactly is gluten? Your neighbor has "gluten issues," or you've read about celebrities who've touted a gluten-free diet as a detox miracle. For many people, foods with gluten can lead to severe digestive issues and, over time, serious conditions like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and intestinal cancers. But while gluten -- a protein found in common grains such as wheat, barley, and rye -- has been a hot health topic, it's much more than just a fad. Here's what you need to know.

A gluten-free diet is a diet that excludes the protein gluten. Gluten is found in grains such as wheat, barley, rye and triticale (a cross between wheat and rye). A gluten-free diet is used to treat celiac disease. Gluten causes inflammation in the small intestines of people with celiac disease. Eating a gluten-free diet helps people with celiac disease control their signs and symptoms and prevent complications.

In the past decade, many people have switched over to a gluten free diet. They go all out to ensure that the food they eat does not contain gluten. You may see a lot of gluten free packaged foods at grocery stores.

Although many people prefer a gluten free diet, they really don’t understand the health benefits of a gluten free diet. Initially, following a gluten-free diet may be frustrating. What does Allergen Free mean?

The term “allergen free” is often spoken in the food allergy community. You might have heard the term “allergy safe” as well. There are 8 main allergens, and so Allergen-free refers to products that are free of the current top 8 allergens as recognized by the FDA. Those allergens are: dairy, wheat, eggs, soy, shellfish, fish, tree nuts (including coconut) and peanuts. That means they contain NO wheat/gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish or shellfish - the allergens that account for 90% of all food allergic reactions in the United States.  BUICED is Allergen free.

What does it mean when you see GMO- Free?

I am sure you have heard and have seen the term GMO-free in more and more places these days, but what does it actually mean? "GMO-free" is used on packaged food labels by many companies to indicate a food is free of genetically modified organisms developed through biotechnology. It’s an industry term that’s made its way into common usage, for better or for worse. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food are concern for consumers who are worried about the impact that these organisms may have on their health. As a result, many companies in the late 1990s began to apply the "GMO free" label, indicating that their food does not contain genetically modified organisms. A number of nations legislate labeling, and in Europe, food must be labeled to indicate whether or not it contains GMOs. In the United States, however, labeling is purely voluntary and not regulated by any governmental body or organization.

Since it is not regulated, there has been some question about the validity of the GMO free label in the US. A number of organizations have pressured the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), to enact legislation governing food labeling in regards to these ingredients. Many food activists want a label that is standardized, so that consumers who are concerned about this issue can be assured about the content of products they purchase. Most US consumers have foods containing GMOs in their home. The majority of corn and soybeans grown in the US have been modified, as have several other crops. Some research indicates that many processed foods contain such ingredients, so for consumers who are concerned about this issue, labeling would be helpful.  BUICED is GMO free.

What does it mean to be BPA Free?

BPA stands for bisphenol A. BPA is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles. They may also be used in other consumer goods. Epoxy resins are used to coat the inside of metal products, such as food cans, bottle tops and water supply lines. Some dental sealants and composites also may contain BPA. Some research has shown that BPA can seep into food or beverages from containers that are made with BPA. Exposure to BPA is a concern because of possible health effects of BPA on the brain, behavior and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children.  BUICED is BPA free.

THE SKINNY ON BUICED:

Hello everybody. My name is Ray Doustdar and I’m the Founder of BUICED. I wanted to take a minute and explain our new product to you. BUICED is a new liquid multi vitamin that gives you 100% of your daily vitamin needs and some great minerals all in an easy 1oz. shot. Liquid vitamins are more readily available for quicker absorption into cells, and so now all you do is “boost” your veggie juice, OJ, water, favorite beverage or just fire back a shot.  I also am a huge juicer. No, not that kind of “juicer,” but a fresh veggie juicer. I started juicing to help bring down my cholesterol, and guess what? It worked. In 4 months, my cholesterol went from 234 to 168 (down 28%) by incorporating juicing into my daily lifestyle. Juicing gave me portion control and helped curb my cravings.

During this time, I discovered that although the leafy greens are packed with phytonutrients, they lack many essential vitamins and minerals. I tried taking vitamins in pill form after each juice, but they upset my stomach. Then when I learned that liquid vitamins are more readily available for easier absorption, I decided to solve my own problem and created BUICED to “boost my juice.” Now I “BUICED” my fresh veggie juice, my morning OJ or my water. And when I’m in a hurry, I just fire back a shot!

FOLLOW YOUR PASSION:

Creating BUICED literally from scratch has not only been the most demanding and difficult thing that I have ever done, but also by far the most rewarding.  This is because I have passion for this.  I have learned that when it comes to your work and your life for that matter, you are not truly alive unless you are living a life of passion.  That passion can take many forms, such as passion for your family, your friends, your faith.  Whether its a passion for your work, a passion for your hobbies, or a passion for your well being, the bottomline is to figure out what you are passionate about, and then put a plan in place to make that more a part of your everyday life. How many times have you done something and loved it, and then said "I wish I could do that more often."  Well you can, so stop wishing.

The making of BUICED was born from my passion of trying to find a better way to take vitamins, something that I personally believe is vital to your overall health and well being.  I fell in love with juicing fresh vegetables, and have now anchored my lifestyle around that and have become an everyday juicer.  My process became to "juice" after I would work out or go running, so I could give my body 16-32 ounces of pure goodness from the nutrients in the raw vegetables in liquid form so they would bypass digestion and go directly into my bloodstream.  Needless to say, I would feel great after chugging my juice.  Then I would follow this up with taking my pill form vitamins, and that's where the train fell off the track.  The next 20 minutes were always miserable, as my stomach would get upset each and every time I took the pill form vitamins.  I tried taking them with food, and I still had the same result.  I stopped taking vitamins to see if there was any effect, and there was.  Around 3pm or 4pm every day, I found myself much more tired than normal, and overall I just did not feel as good.  That's when I started on my quest of finding a better and affordable way to take vitamins and add this back into my daily lifestyle.  My passion to accomplish this goal has motivated me and gave me the determination and the perseverance to make this happen by creating BUICED... and I hope that you will give it a try.  Regardless of whether or not you do, I hope that visiting our site and learning about our passion and product was worth your time.
