Memory Capacity for USB Flash Drive In The Industry
32GB comes with usable storage space of 29.30GB approx.
Explanation on the capacity " loss".
1. The capacity on a memory product ( in the market ) is calculated in terms of decimal ( base 10) capacity, while 1GB=1000MB, 1MB=1000KB, 1KB=1000B; while in binary numbering system, 1GB=1024MB, 1MB=1024KB, 1KB=1024B. In theory, 16GB on product shall equal to 14.90GB in binary numbering system. ( Formula: 32*1000*1000*1000/1024/1024/1024=29.80)
2. Part of the capacity is used for formatting, so is not available for data storage.
In general, in flash memory industry, the real capacity is around 93% of the named capacity.
