Eri Silk RovingOur Eri Silk Roving is made from the short fiber of the cocoon. This fiber has been processed in the mill where the cocoons are separated into A grade and B grade and waste cocoons. Eri Muga Blend Silk RovingOur Eri Muga Silk Sliver / Roving is made from Eri B Grade cocoons (70%) and Muga Waste cocoons (30%). This fiber has been processed in the mill where the fibers are blended together to create a light golden color. After the cocoons are degummed separately a machine is used to blend the fibers into a uniform consistent mixture. This roving fiber can be used for making various yarn types. The result, when spun, creates a subtle golden color yarn having a slight sheen. The texture of the yarn will be slubby because of the short fibers. |

Meghalaya is well known for Eri Silk or Ryndia. The fiber of this silk has cotton-like behavior. Eri has a rougher texture and is heavier than other silks but it can be spun into finer and shinier material. The more it is worn, the softer it gets, and it is a great textile to weave with. This is the popular silk yarn makers are talking about. Its texture, especially when woven with hand spun yarn, is profoundly beautiful – always changing with the charismatic touch of imperfection.
