Baru is a supernut native to the Brazilian Savanna, similar in taste to peanut but with a hint of chocolate. It is a nut known for its incredible nutritional profile, being a great source of protein, fiber, manganese, copper, zinc, and iron at a fraction of the calories vs other nuts. Our Baru Nuts are sustainably harvested in the wild by local co-ops where they play an important role in safeguarding the ecosystem of the Brazilian Savanna against deforestation while helping to keep local traditions alive. As they cannot be eaten raw, after harvest, they are shelled by hand and roasted for 30 minutes to unlock maximum flavor and crunchiness.
