Among the most cherished first moments is seeing your beautiful baby wearing something you love. Sude Dellinger Peta is passionate about creating heirloom quality clothes and her inspiration is her own journey into motherhood - which all started when she became pregnant with triplets 10 years ago.

With the highest quality in mind for Feather Baby, Sude and husband Joe moved to Lima Peru in 2007 with their 18 month-old triplets in tow. An unwaivering dedication to sourcing the finest fabrics, working with the best boutique manufacturers, and committing to ethical and all-natural practices is Feather Baby's mission.

It was a bold move for a gutsy girl from the South, but not the first. Sude left a career in the music industry to open 3 boutiques in Gramercy Park, Hells Kitchen and the Upper West Side of NYC. Following her passion for design after having triplets, Sude found her inspiration in Peru.

 

Expertise in baby garment construction is a matter of pride for factories in Peru, and this craftsmanship has been well-honed in the last century. Attention to detail combined with Peru’s experience with baby textiles makes each piece truly unique. And the screen printers who create Feather Baby’s delicate prints have dedicated their lives to this art form. All printed fabrics and styles are limited to several hundred garments using small-scale production.

Feather Baby is proud to have built a small network of producers in Peru that are independent, family-owned companies. Our factories are small-production facilities, with responsible, ethically-minded owners.  We source everything, from cotton to trim, locally in Peru where the clothing is made.  Our standards are high – each and every process of manufacturing has been managed by us to ensure our standards are met.

Our Peruvian Pima cotton is the finest quality cotton. We have our jersey cotton knit especially for us, having developed it with our knitters over the past 10 years.

What makes Peruvian Pima cotton so great? Climate conditions in Peru create a tight and voluminous cotton ball, producing extra-long fibers. Thus, the cotton can be spun into longer, finer threads.  The durable Pima thread can be knitted into a thin, dense fabric which creates a refined, luxuriously soft fabric that has exceptional strength and warmth. The garments are constructed to last longer, and the hand of the cotton keeps getting softer after each wash.

Sude’s objective is to make you smile and laugh  - helping you find something you haven’t seen before is part of the fun. Her aesthetic is comprised of modern design, signature styles, hazy hues, and sumptuous weaves.  Her travels and love of nostalgia are evident in the prints seen in each collection... taking inspiration from Asian fashion, an illustration in a vintage children's book, the motion of the waves off the coast of Lima, or even Jane Fonda in Barbarella.
