The Shibori Stripe Collection

Atlanta-based designer and author Vern Yip is all about beautiful design, simplistic styling, and clean, organized living. Most famously known for his work on TLC’s Trading Spaces and HGTV’s Design Star and Urban Oasis, Vern also has a column in HGTV Magazine and is the author of two books, Design Wise and the newly released Vacation at Home.

SKL Home’s design collaboration with famed interior designer Vern Yip is a collection that truly encompasses his design philosophy, mixing fashion with function. Traditional patterns take on a fresh approach with clean lines and modern elements.

Ancient Methods Meet Modern Design

Shibori Stripe is inspired from the traditional Asian dying technique known as just that, Shibori. The design is made by folding, bunching, or twisting fabric then binding it before dipping in into dye. This technique dates back to the eighth century and was primarily done in indigo ink.

This collection is a true representation of this ancient dying process, with its unique, space-dyed pattern and bold blue and indigo color palette.
