Measuring Your Air Filter
Choosing the right size filter is important for keeping your home's air clean. An improperly sized filter will bend if it is too large or fail to catch impurities if it is too small. To determine the dimensions of your filter, measure the width, height, and depth separately in inches of the space where the filter will go in your HVAC system. This will give you three measurements. For instance, a filter with a width of 20 inch, a height of 20 inch, and a depth of 1 inch will give you a filter with dimensions of 20x20x1. Correctly measuring your filter will help you properly choose the right filter for your home.
