Hooded Eyes

If you have hooded eyelids (the space between your lash line and the crease of your eye is very small or invisible, compared to space above crease of eye to brow), thin liner looks are hard to see and can cause your eye to appear receded. Use a liner followed by a dark eyeshadow blended up just above the crease of the eye to balance the upper and lower lids. Leslie recommends a waterproof, smudge-resistant liner like 24-7 I-Line Gel Eyeliner to ensure makeup doesn’t disappear into your lid or smear! You should also emphasize your lashes to make your eyes appear lifted by curling your lashes and piling on the Beauty For Real's Hi-Def Mascara.

Recommended Makeup Tips:

Hooded eyes are often accompanied by a protruding or puffy upper eyelid. Be careful with too much highlighter on upper lid and brow bone as this can accentuate this.Try highlighter in inner corner of the eye instead for lightness and brightness.

Downturned Eyes

Downturned eyes are pretty self-explanatory. They take on an almond-like shape, but dip or droop down at the outer corners.

When it comes to downturned eye shape, the trick is in faking a lift. “Finish the line at the outer corner much higher than you would think—try leaning your head back, and making a line that goes 45 degrees from the middle of the eye outward toward the temple,” suggests Leslie. An upward flick of the liner at the outermost corner followed with shadow above it will instantly give your eyes an open and the illusion of a lifted appearance.

Recommended Makeup Tips:

Try an eye lift look that blends a soft neutral shadow over liner on the lid, lifting the outer corner. Finish with a highlighter on the brow bone and in the inner corner of your eye. This will literally light up your eyes!

Close Set Eyes

If the space between your eyes is smaller than one eye itself, then you have close set eyes. To create the illusion of more space between your eyes, keep your dark liner and eyeshadows focused at the outer corners of your eyes. This technique is also beneficial if your eyes are dark or sunken in the inner corners.

Recommended Makeup Tips:

Apply liner and eyeshadow on the outer 2/3 of your eye leaving the inner 1/3 blank. Begin with dark liner very thin at the inside becoming thicker as you get to the outside and finish it just beyond the corner of your eye. You are a good candidate for a cat eye application! (see below)

Use highlighter and/or light metallic liners in the inner corner to bring more light and open the inner corner your eye.

Wide Set Eyes

If the space between your eyes is larger than one eye itself, then you have wide set eyes. To create balance and bring eyes closer together, apply dark liner and eyeshadows concentrated at the inner corner of the eyes leaving the outer corners void of depth.

Recommended Makeup Tips:

Place dark liner all of the way into the inner corner of your eye (waterproof/longwear liner is essential here), becoming thinner as you get to the outer corner. Follow with dark eyeshadows applied into the inner corner becoming softer and lighter as you blend out towards the outer corners.

Keep your mascara application more concentrated on the inner corner. A small mascara brush, like the brush in Beauty For Real's Hi-Def Mascara helps to make mascara application more detailed.

Finish with light or metallic liners and/or eyeshadows on the outer corners of your eyes, blending to diffuse softly towards the temples.
