Sight through the level at a grade rod or other target. Look through the scope, find level, then read the grade rod where it crosses the level indicator in the sight level. You've found level. Now, compare this reading to the height of your eyeball, divide by the distance between you and the grade rod, and you can easily calculate the grade between any two points. It couldn't be simpler!
Note: This sight level has no image magnification. If you need to sight longer distances or perform more complicated layout work, consider a builder’s level, transit level, or theodolite. See the chart below for all Johnson Optical options!
