A Love for Fashion
I grew up loving fashion. My mother and grandmother taught me to sew at a young age and I actually made a majority of my wardrobe in my teenage years. I was always trying to keep up with the latest styles and trends while adding my own flair. My love for fashion led me to major in Textiles and Apparel at the University of Maryland. From there, fashion led me to beauty where I sold cosmetics owned and operated a day spa where I was a practicing esthetician, and eventually landed as a pharmaceutical sales representative for a medical skincare brand.
Fast forward a number of years to 2009 when my eldest daughter started swimming at the University of South Carolina. I would go down to watch her swim meets as well as attend tailgates and football games. I wanted to wear something fun and fashionable to support the team but all I could find were boring, unflattering, unisex t-shirts. In order to spice it up a bit, a few other team mom's and I began cutting the t-shirts into v-necks, scoop necks-anything to give them a little more style. Why weren't cute options like this available in the bookstores on campus? Especially at a big, southern football school where dressing up on game days is the norm! Drawing off my studies of Textiles and Apparel at the University of Maryland and using inspiration from southern game day style, the idea of Flying Colors Apparel was born!
Through the years Flying Colors has evolved from a unisex brand of unique men's and women's polos, tanks and tees to a women's focused, fashion forward choice for students and fans. We have grown to offer licensed apparel for over 100 NCAA schools.
