Giving drum set players the minimalist vibe where clutter used to take over
Plus, why "nothing surprising" became a pillar for Meinl
There are plenty of stick varieties on the market, and like you, we've been in the same position. With the onslaught of decision making, you settle on a pair that's good enough to spare yourself endless research and testing.
But it's ironic if you think about it. Are your drums and cymbals "good enough?" What about your practice routine? Of course, you give those areas your all, but it can fall apart without the right stick for your own personal touch—even if you've cultivated the ultimate gear list.
And that's why we, as a cymbal manufacturer, started asking questions about drumsticks.
Does too much choice have the wrong effect? Why do paired sticks sound totally different from each other on a ride cymbal when you swap them around? Some models have noticeable weight differences between pairs—what can be done to fix this?
Our drum set aligned, distilled assortment is made for today's active drummer
It's only natural that our sticks have to sound fantastic on cymbals first, since cymbal making has been our family business since 1951. We eliminated factors that cause matched sticks to have a different attack on cymbals then developed a focused variety of tips and tapers to draw out a specific tone and feel.
The "ah-ha" moment
Have you found your favorite sticks to be too light or too heavy when buying a new pair? Our sticks are made with a new step: weigh and sort the raw wooden dowels into designated models before manufacturing. Lighter dowels are reserved for our 7A sticks, while heavy, dense dowels are used for models like our Heavy 2B.
This means your favorite pair will ALWAYS feel the same—with no surprises.
