About The AFS-TEX Active Platform
An article on the benefits of fidgeting at work and at school inspired the Active Platform. Fidgeting – also called increased subconscious activity, increases the amount of moment a person does in a day and also has the added benefits of raising metabolism and decreasing the stiffness which may be experienced when sitting or standing still for long periods. The AFS-TEX Active Platform design team looked at ways to encourage fidgeting, at both sitting and standing desks and designed the active mat around this.
The Active Platform increases movement through a combination of soft and supportive deep mat padding, an undulating ‘not-flat’ surface which encourages the standing desk user to shift their stance.
For both sitting and standing use, the raised sides encourage calf stretching, and of course the unique massage ball curve helps massage the soles of the feet, and enables back-and-forth, side-to-side or a full-circle rotating movements. These all work to activate muscles and joints while also taking pressure off leg, hip and back joints.
Using an AFS-TEX Active Platform increases Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT) movements. These are the small movements a person makes during the day which are not deemed as exercise; things like taking the stairs instead of using the elevator, standing instead of sitting.
