How do I operate the PH and TDS meter?

Rinse electrode with distilled water before using and blot it dry with paper towel. Switch the device on and immerse pH electrode in solution. Gently stir and wait for 10-30 seconds for the reading to stabilize. Switch off the pH meter and use distilled water to clean. You can use buffer solution in the cap of your PH and TDS meter to ensure accurate results for your next reading.

Can I use tap water for testing?

No! The tap water here contains minerals. For accurate calibration, the pH and TDS meter set needs distilled water. However, there are two ways of obtaining distilled water. Either you can simply buy the distilled water bottle at the local grocery store or boil the water and collect its steam and let it condense. That condensed water will be pure water.

Can this be used to test soil?

No, It is for use in water only. The pen electrode can be directly inserted into water or conveniently dipped into a glass beaker of a measured solution of water. You can read the results on the LCD screen within 5 seconds. The sensory probe is made from a highly sensitive titanium alloy.

How do I clean the meter?

Make sure to keep the electrodes clean for continued accurate readings. Clean by rinsing them in distilled or RO (reverse osmosis) water. If scale builds up, you can use a little vinegar to clean them and then rinse again in RO water. Avoid touching the electrodes when rinsing to prevent any damage. Always use a clean vessel that is well rinsed before collecting water for testing as even Minute amounts of detergent can give false high TDS readings.
