THE STAMATOPOULOS & SONS STORY

Extra virgin olive oil, for us, has been a staple in our Stamatopoulos family for centuries. We were, admittedly, spoiled in the olive oil department growing up. It wasn’t until we were much older when we realized what a gem our family’s estate-grown olive oil truly is. Many of our friends tried our olive oil and loudly proclaimed – repeatedly – we needed to “sell this stuff.” They had never experienced anything like it; even our olive oil connoisseur friends loved it. In fact, we went so far as to have our olive oil tested by the prestigious Olive Oil Center at the University of California – Davis.

Our family has been managing our olive estates – on both sides of our family – for hundreds of years. The records go back for centuries, though we are positive it has probably been steadily running longer than that. In fact, the same exact traditions that have been used through the years are continued in our harvesting and bottling practices today. Stamatopoulos & Sons extra virgin olive oil does not contain any additives, pesticides, chemicals, sugar, dairy, GMOs, nuts, or gluten. The only thing we include is 100% genuine, certified, pure extra virgin olive oil - right from our family to yours.

CERTIFIED EXTRA VIRGIN

100% CERTIFIED EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL IMPORTED FROM GREECE

Many store-bought brands are not 100% olive oil. In fact, a large number of store Extra Virgin Olive Oils are cut with cheaper olive oil, and some even are cut with other vegetable oils such as canola, safflower, vegetable, and even corn. At Stamatopoulos & Sons, we have essentially a lifetime supply of olives and we pledge to never add anything to our precious extra virgin olive oil.

Real, certified extra virgin olive oil has to withstand rigorous chemical and taste testing in order to earn the label of "extra virgin." The oils are tested for a variety of chemical contents, including free fatty acidity of 0.8 percent or lower, as well as taste-testing by an expert panel to determine any flaws in flavor. Some examples of taste flaws include winey/vinegary, metallic, rancid, greasy, and earthy.

Our extra virgin olive oil scored exceptionally high in the chemistry and sensory tests performed by The Olive Center at UC Davis. Our extra virgin olive oil naturally has an extremely high polyphenol content, which means it boasts loads of healthy antioxidants. It also has an uncommonly low acidity content (0.19) which means an optimal climate produced olives that were healthy & fresh when picked and processed within a few hours.

GREAT FOR...

COOKING
The light flavor notes and slight fruitiness in light olive oil varieties means it's a wonderful addition to cooking and baked goods. It's especially lovely in denser baked goods like cakes and muffins for added moisture and freshness.

SEAFOOD
Much like white wine, lighter olive oils pair beautifully with white meat seafood and shellfish. The buttery, rich flavor notes enhance the natural flavors in your seafood and provide another layer of complexity to your dishes.

BUTTER ALTERNATIVE
Swap out regular butter for olive oil to add polyphenols and.healthy fats. Use a conversion chart to make sure your proportions are right - a general rule of thumb is to only use 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil for every 1/2 teaspoon you'd use for butter.
