Transitions2earth was founded in 2004 by 2 business partners in Seattle who were looking for an improved environmental alternative to everything else out there. One of them was in the food service industry and felt that there needed to be better products. The other came out of the product development industry and knew that there were advanced technologies in plastics emerging at that time.

What came next?

After years of research the 2 partners met the founders and owners of the company that makes EcoPure. EcoPure is an additive that enhances biodegradation in anaerobic environments. After rigorous lab testing the 2 partners discovered that by adding EcoPure to their cutlery and serving utensils the products showed rapid degradation when tested with the rigorous ASTMD5511 test. Specifically, the test showed 13% biodegradation after only 59 weeks. The test conditions simulate both wetter and biologically active landfills. Wetter or biologically active landfills may not exist in your area. The stated rate and extent of degradation do not mean that the product will continue to decompose or decompose completely.
