Aerosol Spray
Surface Preparation All surfaces must be clean and free of all dirt, loose rust, oil, grease, wax, soap, loose paint and any other matter.
Previously Painted Areas Scuff surface with 320 grit sand paper. Use POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser and POR-15 Metal Prep. Let surface dry thoroughly.
Bare Steel or Aluminum Clean and prep surface then let dry thoroughly. For ultimate protection apply POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating after surface preparation and then apply POR-15 Top Coat.
Application Protect surrounding areas from spray mist. If being used to topcoat POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, spray while POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is dry to the touch with slight finger drag, normally 2 – 6 hours. If POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating has dried, wait 24 hours then lightly sand or scuff surface with pad or 320 sand paper. For best results, use when surface to be painted, spray can, and outside temperature, are between 60˚F and 90˚F (21˚C and 32˚C). Shake can at least one minute before and occasionally during use. Spray surface with steady, even strokes at a distance of 6 to 10 inches. Several light coats give a better finish than one heavy coat.
Dry time It cures to touch in 30-60 minutes. Second coat can be applied in 1-24 hours, depending on ambient temperature and humidity. POR-15 Top Coat can take 3-4 days to reach max hardness, and longer in temperatures below 55°F (15°C).
Cleanup To prevent clogs in spray nozzle, hold can upside down and spray until clear gas appears. Completely empty cans may be recycled or disposed of with regular trash. Dispose of partially empty cans responsibly. DO NOT puncture, incinerate or compact.
