Cosmos are cheery wildflowers that are easily established from freshly harvested Cosmos seeds. They are possibly the easiest wildflower to grow, and are arguably one of the most rewarding as well. The flowers tend to open up to a diameter of about 2.5 to 3 inches wide, displaying a bright yellow center, accented by deeply colored petals. Each variety of Cosmos in this assortment will display shades of magenta, purple, pink, white, orange, or yellow. Some of the flowers contained within this assortment will also display multicolored blooms as well.
Cosmos wildflowers are grown as an annual flowering plant. Annuals such as this will grow quickly from freshly harvested seeds, producing colorful flowers during the Summer months. The plants can grow to vigorous height of 24 to 60 inches tall depending on the strain. Many gardeners grow this variety as a backdrop plant, along fences and borders. The plants develop attractive, woodsy foliage, which display slender leaves, which are connected to semi thick stems.
