Inventor, Fred P. Newton
On July 6, 1930, Fred Newton dove into the Mississippi River at Ford Dam, MN. Five months and 1,826 miles later, he emerged in New Orleans, LA, completing the longest swim in history, a record that stood for 70 years in the Guinness Book of Records.
Amazingly, this testament to the human spirit was not what Fred Newton was proudest of. By 1953 Fred, a traveling insurance salesman, had been suffering from back and tailbone pain exacerbated by driving the dusty roads of Texas. Ten years later, Fred perfected the device that would revolutionize the comfort seating business. He founded RelaxoBak in 1963 and impressed the medical community with his remarkable invention.
Fifty-five years later, RelaxoBak, Inc. is still family-owned and continues as the leader in pain-relief seating, with 3,000+ chiropractic clinics and hospitals endorsing them. As a long-time member of the Better Business Bureau, RelaxoBak, Inc. has been granted registration with the FDA as a Medical Device Manufacturer.
