For more than a century, people have looked for new materials for making knives. Jack Yan is one of those people. Jack has honed his knife-making skills in Solingen, Germany for the past 20 years.
It has been Jack's goal in life and passion, to make an amazing knife that is strong, flexible and with a sharpness that is not easily dulled. In 2007 there was some success with manufacturing ceramic knives but because of their hardness, they were brittle and prone to cracking and chipping. It wasn’t until 2011 that he finally discovered a new Cermet technology that was being developed by an award-winning science professor in Wuhan.
After 6 years of continuous collaboration, exploration and experimenting, Jack perfected the formula and production process needed to clad the Cermet alloy seamlessly onto a knife’s steel blade edge. The result was an incredible hardness, flexibility and durability, that is now available to you - built into the Cerasteel knife!
