Usage Try Penne with a spicy tomato sauce called Penne all'Arrabbiata for a classic Italian favorite.	Shape Penne means 'pen' in Italian, and is a shape inspired by the quill of an old style ink pen.	Texture The beautifully ridged shape of Penne can be served in a variety of ways: with meat- and vegetable-based sauces to olive oil- and dairy-based sauces, or bake it in your favorite pasta casserole.	Cooking Tips 1. Bring 4 - 6 quarts of water to a rolling boil, add salt to taste. 2. Add contents of package to boiling water. Stir gently. 3. Return to a boil. For authentic ‘al dente’ pasta, boil uncovered, stirring occasionally for 11 minutes. For more tender pasta, boil an additional 1 minute. 4. Remove from heat. Drain well. 5. Serve immediately with your favorite Barilla sauce.

Chicken & Penne, Puerto Rican Style

1. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.

2. Rub chicken with 1 tbsp. seasoning.

3. Brown chicken for about 3 minutes each side.

4. Remove chicken, cut into 1-inch chunks and set aside.

5. In the same pan, add onion, garlic, peppers and the remaining seasoning. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 6 minutes.

6. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, olives, peas and carrots, 3 tbsp. cilantro, salt and pepper, and the chicken.

7. Lower heat to medium and cover. Cook for 20 minutes.

8. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.

9. Add the pasta to the boiling salted water and cook per the box’s instructions.

10. Drain the pasta.

11. Toss the pasta with the sauce and the remaining cilantro.

12. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese.

4 tbsp. olive oil
2 chicken breast halves
2 tbsp. all purpose seasoning with annatto (adobo con achiote), divided
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, seeded and sliced
1 green bell pepper, seeded and sliced
1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 tbsp. tomato paste
1/2 cup green olives, pitted and drained
1/2 cup frozen peas and carrots
4 tbsp. cilantro, divided
Salt and pepper to taste
Grated Pamesan cheese for garnish

with Tomato, Basil, Zucchini & Garlic

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

2. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

3. Add garlic and sauté 1-2 minutes or until garlic turns golden in color.

4. Add zucchini to skillet and sauté for an additional 3 minutes.

5. Add the tomatoes and basil; simmer 2 minutes, season with salt and pepper.

6. Cook Penne according to package instructions.

7. Drain pasta and toss with sauce.

8. Sprinkle with cheese and serve.
