Where Does Our Matcha Come From & How Is It Made?

Our matcha is sourced from the Nishio region of Japan’s Aichi prefecture, an area renowned for years as one of the world’s best matcha producers.

Making our matcha powder is a labour of love that starts with shading tea plants for up to three weeks before plucking, which increases the caffeine and L-theanine levels in the tea leaves. The leaves are then steamed, dried, deveined and carefully ground to a fine powder – ready to be whisked into hot water and enjoyed.

Our flavoured matcha is made with a wholesome base of traditional Japanese matcha green tea, which has long been hailed for its antioxidant effects, along with its energizing, detoxifying and natural metabolism-boosting properties.

Our matchas also make a great coffee alternative. Matcha contains less caffeine than an average cup of coffee and yet still gets the job done. Many believe that the caffeine in matcha metabolizes differently, providing a more sustained energy release since you’re ingesting the entire leaf. Plus it contains in L-theanine, an amino acid that helps promote a calm, focused alertness – there’s a reason it’s been used in meditation for centuries.

Traditional Ceremonial Matcha Preparation


Step 1 Scoop matcha into bowl Add 2.5 tsp of DAVIDsTEA flavoured matcha green tea to a bowl.	Step 2 Add warm water & get whisking Gradually add warm water and whisk in an M shape until frothy.	Step 3 Pour & enjoy Once your matcha is smooth & free of clumps, pour into a mug and get sipping.	Pro Tip Want an iced matcha? Just pour into a mug filled with ice.


Step 1 Scoop matcha into travel mug Place 2.5 tsp of DAVIDsTEA flavoured matcha powder in empty mug.	Step 2 Add warm water & shake Pour in warm water to the fill line, close lid securely and shake for 10-20 sec.	Step 3 Release pressure & enjoy Press safety button on lid to release any pressure that may have built up during shaking.


Matcha Ice Cream Ingredients: 4 tbsp DAVIDsTEA flavoured matcha powder 2 cups (500 ml) whipping cream 1 can (300 ml) condensed milk Directions: Heat ½ cup whipping cream until it’s warm. In a bowl, add matcha to warm whipping cream and stir until dissolved. In a separate bowl, whip remaining 1.5 cups of whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add liquid matcha mixture into freshly whipped cream and continue to whip until peaks form. Fold in condensed milk until combined. Cover & freeze mixture for 4 hours or overnight before serving.	Matcha Smoothie Bowl Ingredients: 4 tbsp DAVIDsTEA flavoured matcha powder ¼ cup hot water 1 banana 1 mango, chopped ½ cup orange juice Directions: Blend everything, pour it in a bowl and garnish with desired toppings.	Matcha Yogurt Pops Ingredients: 4 tbsp DAVIDsTEA flavoured matcha powder ¼ cup water 1 cup vanilla yogurt ½ cup berries Directions: Whisk matcha in ¼ cup warm water until dissolved. In a small bowl, mix yogurt, whisked matcha & berries until combined Pour yogurt mixture into popsicles molds & freeze for 4 hours or until frozen.
