We design our socks here in the US and have them made in Japan. Why? Because the Japanese have their act together. Remember the spotless locker room and thank you note they left (in Russian) at the 2018 World Cup after losing to Belgium? Total class. And who won the bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics? Japan of course (skateboarding will be an event for the first time ever, so here’s a tip: “Godzilla ate my skateboard!” in Japanese is “Gojira ga ore no suke-tobo-do o tabeta zo!”. The real kicker as to why our stuff is made there is because we were blown away by the spirit and skill of our Japanese manufacturers. They’ve been making socks for generations, and that experience is evident in every KINKUNSHU sock. You can see and feel it when you hold a pair in your hand - just imagine how they’ll feel on your feet.
THE METAMORPHOSIS COLLECTION:
CRANKFLIP: Sock colors inspired by a wad of chewed bubblegum and fresh hot New York City street tar. I once witnessed some poor bloke set a crankflip in motion with both of these substances stuck to one of his kicks and pedal. What ensued was a ropy, sticky entanglement of the highest order - let these socks be a warning to all.
CUTBACK: Sock colors inspired by that next perfect wave (you know the one, it's probably out there right now) and big blue skies which have a way of cutting through all that RL noise in your head. When you're not ripping the waves and touching the heavens, you'll at least have these to kickstart some meaningful daydreaming.
INDY GRAB: Sock colors inspired by the Pink Lotus, that most sacred of the lotus flowers associated with the highest form of spiritual enlightenment (think Nirvana), and Ron Burgundy from the Anchorman movies who unloads this great line during an outtake about his favorite "psychologist" Stacy Peralta (the legendary skateboarder, surfer, and director of Dogtown and Z-Boys): "That guy does stuff that blows my mind." Well done sir.
KICKFLIP: Sock colors inspired by Orange Crush, the most satisfying orange soda on the planet, and Valyrian Steel, the legendary Game of Thrones metal imbued with magic and Dragonfire. If the joining of these two vanquishers doesn't put some mad spring in your kicks and have you landing bolts we don't know what will.
TAILWHIP: Sock colors inspired by the Carolina Reaper, the hottest chili pepper in the world with it's red gnarled body and small pointed tail, a harbinger of heat if there ever was one, and Monarch the legendary California grizzly bear after whom the California state flag was modeled.
