Organic Valley, Organic Salted Butter is churned in small batches by master buttermakers for award-winning taste. That taste won this organic butter the coveted 1st Place Salted Butter Award from the American Cheese Society in 2017. We make this pasture raised butter from two simple ingredients, organic sweet cream and a little salt. Extra care at the farm and in the creamery is all it takes to make it a winner.


The Creamery That Could In the small town of Chaseburg, Wisconsin (pop. 304) sits a century old creamery. Organic Valley bought the creamery in 1999, and we have been slow-churning organic butter in small batches there ever since.	So What's Cultured Butter? Organic valley butter comes in a variety of styles, including salted, unsalted, cultured, and European style. Cultured butter is made when live and active cultures are added to sweet cream giving the butter a tangier, more complex taste and can be used just like regular butter.	More Fat, More Flakes We churn our European and Pasture Butters longer to give them a higher butterfat content than our regular organic butter. Their higher butterfat, 84% vs. 80%, means there is less water which leads to flakier crusts making this a marvelous baking butter. For an indulgent butter experience, these are the butters for you.	Organic Butter Versus Margarine Margarine was created to be a healthier alternative to butter, but that's not necessarily the case. Some recent studies show that the saturated fat and cholesterol in real butter are much more beneficial than once thought, and the trans fat in margarine can actually create health issues.
