FOUNDERS STORY

Meet Boushelle - In April 2020, I launched our modern wellness brand, Hudson and James. This vision has evolved over time because I enjoy the process of lifelong learning...always setting goals for myself and seeking answers.

The Backstory - I began growing my creative career expertly styling hair and makeup for countless magazine covers, editorial advertising and fashion shows in New York City. My portfolio includes a wide range of men, women, and children who modeled over the course of my 35-year journey. During that time I saw many changes take place at photoshoots and within the modeling industry. There were forward-thinking adjustments that changed the rigid boundaries that dictated outdated beauty standards put in place years prior.

Fortunately, agencies were no longer hiring models exclusively with just stick-straight, well-behaved hair. For the first time, there were innovative hair products available that made it possible for every hair type to thrive and showcase their individual uniqueness. The inspired new products had leveled the playing field.

The modeling industry also started to branch out and embrace female models that weren’t the typical thin, small-breasted, five-foot eight archetype, which was refreshing. But the most impressive change for this time in history was that diverse skin-tones were experiencing a strong presence in the modeling world and we have never looked back. The industry had morphed its definition of beauty and it felt freeing!

During my long career, I had purchased an enormous amount of beauty products for the face and hair. The products were in attractive packaging and worked really well, but over the years I began reading the labels of the skincare, cosmetics, and hairspray that were in my kit.

I became conscious and questioned what I was using on myself and on others. Since my teens I had known the importance of eating organic, so why shouldn’t our beauty and household products be held up to the same clean standard?

After seeing decades of positive change, I realized another important adjustment needed to take place and I had to join the trajectory by formulating a purposeful, ethical, organic skincare brand. With many years of experience applying products to some of the most incredible recognized faces in the world, I knew I could improve the quality of everyday skincare products while also delivering the same great results. Slowly the world is waking up to the idea of mindful brands that don’t jeopardize our wellbeing or that of the planet.

Currently, Hudson and James is utilizing collaborative principles of Ayurvedic, Eastern and Western ideologies along with scientifically based studies to guide our ingredient profiles and philosophies.
