Our peppermint toothpaste starts with mineral-rich, calcium bentonite clay from Texas. We add low-sodium trace minerals from the Great Salt Lake and finish with organic steam distilled peppermint oil to give our toothpaste a strong minty flavor. 

Why clay? This clay has a high pH (alkaline) which promotes tooth remineralization and provides a full range of minerals, salts, and elements. Clay is a unique abrasive because of its sheetlike crystal structure. In water these sheets or platelets delaminate and become very small, sub-micron particles. It is also softer than silica and other conventionally used toothpaste abrasives.

About our ingredients:

Calcium Bentonite: We use a high purity natural calcium bentonite montmorillonite clay from Texas. It is reddish in color, mineral-rich, has not been chemically processed or treated in any way and works as a fantastic abrasive and cleaner for teeth. Clay is a unique abrasive because of its sheetlike crystal structure. In water these sheets or platelets delaminate and become very small, sub-micron particles. 

Water: We filter municipal water by reverse osmosis and deionization. This means we use essentially pure water with no impurities: no chlorine, heavy metals, fertilizers. 

Sea Water Extract/Ionic Sea Minerals: The Great Salt Lake in Utah is so salty because the lake has no water outlet. As water evaporates from this lake all the minerals and salts washed away from the surrounding rocks and mountains stay in it and get more and more concentrated. Our Ionic Sea Minerals are these salts and minerals, and are low in sodium. It’s like liquid rocks. 

Peppermint Oil: Our mentha piperita (peppermint) leaf oil is organic, steam distilled and comes from sustainable farms in India.
