Q(2): On the Water leakage time, the leak alarm did not give an alarm?

A: One reason is that the leak alarm is not placed in the right way. The correct way is to put the leak alarm flat in the place where it might leak, with the buzzer facing up.The probe head down, so that the sensor of the alarm (that is 3 contact metals) can easily touch the water. Another reason is that the battery voltage is too low, so that it cannot work, and a new battery should be replaced

Q(3): How long will the battery last?

A: The package does not contain batteries. But we tested it with 23A 12V Alkaline battery. The alarm keep going off for about 24 hours. When the water leak alarm isn't in use, the battery for power supply can be used for more than one year, and recommend that you could check the battery once a month. If the frequency for alarming is high, we recommend you could check the battery every 15 days.

Q(4): How can you know the battery is low? Is it easy to reset?

A: The sound of the water leak alarm is lowish when the battery is low. No reset necessary. Goes off by itself when water is no longer touching it. Automatically reset and ready to go.

Q(5): Is it water proof? Meaning if it is submerged in several inches of water can it be reused?

A: Yes, it is waterproof and can float in the water, it can be reused even if it submerged in several inches of water.

Q(6): Is there any way to know if it is actually armed and working since there is no test button?

It has little metal sensors on the bottom. You could touch them with a wet a paper towel and the alarm will sound. Remove the paper towel and the alarm will stop.

Q(7): Could I place this by the toilet, just I cause my three year old decides to get smart and hose the bathroom down again?

This is the perfect product for that situation. It just needs to be installed on a horizontal surface and there are no additional accessories required to attach it. This can also be reused; simply dry the metal contacts on the bottom of the unit and place back in the area you want to detect water.

Q(8): Does it come with battery?

Answer: Yes

Q(9): I want to put one of these in my furnace cold air return (which is below the furnace) to detect A/C condensate leaks, can it sit on a metal surface?

The Leak Alert should not sit on a metal surface directly. This may cause a problem with a moisturizer that can give you false alarms that are unnecessary. A workaround solution would be placing a piece of paper underneath the Leak Alert device so that the metal sensors are not directly in contact with the metal surface.

Q(10): How long do the batteries last in this product before needing to be replaced?

About the same as a smoke detector. On an audio only alarm, between one and two years.

Q(11): I live in Arizona. My garage often exceeds 105 degrees. Will this still work near my water heater and water conditioner?

Yes! Temperature has no affect on these. They will detect the smallest amount of water and let you know.

Q(12): At what depth of water is the alarm triggered?

About 0.078inch (0.2cm). The Leak Alert has 3 metal sensing contacts which are on the bottom the Leak Alert. As soon as water touches the metal sensing contacts, the Leak Alert will Alarm.

How it works

Each water leak alarm contains one battery, no need to install battery, just place a Leak Alert in any location where there is a potential for water damage and flooding
Lay the Leak Alert flat with the metal contacts facing down and touching the surface. When three metal sensing contacts at the bottom of the alarm contact with water, a loud 110 DB alarm sounds for up to 24 hours. In the event of a severe flood, the Leak Alert floats and continues to sound an alarm until the battery is depleted. To minimize property damage, respond to the alarm as quickly as possible.
You can take the water sensor alarm out of the water to shut it.
