Papaya: Papaya was introduced to Hawaii in 1910 by the botanist Dr. Garritt P. Wilder. There are two varieties of this tropical fruit – Hawaiian and Mexican. A good source of Vitamins A and C, Hawaiian papayas are pear-shaped with bright orange or pinkish flesh. After the ringspot virus devastated papaya production in the 1990s, scientists developed the “rainbow papaya” variety, which makes up most of the papaya grown today. Featured in our Papaya Enzyme Powder Face Cleanser and Island Aloe Gel, papaya brightens and moisturizes skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
