Then use a washcloth or a shower poof to gently scrub your skin for a rich lather. Once you have lathered your whole body, step back into the water and rinse off with the washcloth.
To ensure a longer shelf life, store soap bar on a draining soap dish or soap box away from splatter.
What is cold process?
Simply put, cold process is mixing fats (such as olive oil) with an alkali (sodium hydroxide or lye). The mixture goes through a natural chemical process call saponification in which the lye convert the oil into soap. The lye will disappear when the process is completed.
The soap mixture is then poured into a mold to cure, and it typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. During that time the soap continue to harden as excess moisture evaporates, leaving a harder longer lasting soap bar.
Why choose cold process soap?
The saponification process creates natural glycerin which gives our handmade soap a creamy lather. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture in the air. When used on your skin, glycerin soften your skin and keeps it from being dry. Cold process soap retains its natural glycerin and has no added detergents like commercial soaps.
Most commercial manufacturers remove the glycerin because it is more profitable to sell the extracted glycerin separately for lotions and creams production. Then they add synthetic detergent like SLS to give you the same lather. Instead of the cheaper commercial soaps, choose a gentler soap made the natural way for softer and healthier skin.
