The series of holes allows a vacuum accessory to suck dust away from the work surface and reduce air-borne wood dust. We used our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop backing for easy attachment and re-attachment of the disc between grade shifts or work pieces. It is recommended for use on whitewood sanding as well as metal fabrication, finishing stainless steel, and paint prep.
