The Leak Alert WiFi provides email, audio, and visual alerts to homeowners, renters, business owners, and property managers alike. Be alerted to water leaks as soon as one is detected.
No Hub or Monthly Fees
To configure your Leak Alert WiFi water detector, you will need:
- A brand new 3V (CR123A or CR17345) lithium battery (included)
- Access to a Wi-Fi network and password (if applicable)
- A desktop/laptop computer, tablet, or mobile phone (or “Electronic Device”) capable of connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi
During configuration, the Leak Alert WiFi serves as a temporary wireless access point for your electronic device. The purchase of a separate hub is not required and there are no monthly fees or subscriptions.

Detection & AlertsLeak Alert water detectors have two Sensing Contacts that carry a mild electrical current. When both contacts detect moisture, the detector will sound a loud 105 dB alarm and the LEDs will flash. Email notifications will also be sent to configured email addresses every ten minutes for the first hour, and then once every hour for the life of the battery. |
PlacementAn infinite number of Zircon Leak Alert WiFi detectors can be configured and strategically placed in your home or property. Leak Alert detectors are intended for interior use only and must be placed within range of your router to successfully send email notifications. Leak Alert water detectors must be placed with the two metal Sensing Contacts flush against the surface where it can come in contact with leaks. Battery Installation & Low BatteryThe Zircon Leak Alert WiFi water detector includes one 3V (CR123A) lithium battery. Remove the plastic PULL tab strip from the battery compartment before use. To access the battery compartment, grasp the base of the detector with one hand, placing your thumb and middle finger on the indented battery access grooves. Squeeze both sides of the bottom half of the case. Lift and detach the top cover. During the initial configuration of your Leak Alert WiFi, you may receive a 'Low Battery Alert' notification to your configured email address(es) as a result of a temporary dip in the battery voltage during the configuration process. This is not uncommon. The battery will quickly recover its voltage once the configuration process is complete and the detector enters sleep mode. In the event of an actual low battery, the Leak Alert WiFi will chirp every 30 seconds between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time, and one email notification will be sent per 24-hour period. |
Email NotificationsEmail notifications will be sent as long as the detector is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Upon successful configuration, email notifications will be sent to confirm configuration, when a leak is detected, and when the battery is low and/or has been replaced. Each email will contain the detector’s name and time stamp. To receive an optional event log summary every 6 days,check the option box 'Send Log Every 6 Days' in the 'Device' screen during configuration. The Event Log reports the last 20 notifications sent, including anytime there was a lost connection to the router, upon reconnection to the Internet. |
1. Wi-Fi Connection
The Leak Alert WiFi water detector serves as a wireless access point and will be labeled as 'LeakAlertWi-Fi_' and followed by a series of 8 digits ('LeakAlertWiFi_XXXXXX_XX'). Once your electronic device is connected to the Leak Alert Wi-Fi network, you can continue configuring your device. The detector and electronic device must be connected to complete the email notification set-up to link to the Wi-Fi network router to allow email notifications to be sent. Once connected to the Leak Alert "network," open a web browser and enter the detector's IP address: 192.168.4.1. Be sure to verify all numbers in the address were entered correctly.
2. Name of Device and Time
Email notifications will contain the detector’s name and local time.
Multiple detectors can be placed throughout the home or property. Because each detector works independently from each other, each detector will need to be individually configured, named, and programmed with the local time. (Pro Tip: Name detectors by their locations to quickly locate and address leaks when a notification is received.)
If you would like to receive an optional event log summary every 6 days, be sure to check the box next to “SEND LOG EVERY 6 DAYS”.
3. Contact Information
When a leak is detected, or the battery is low, the Leak Alert WiFi water detector will send notifications to up to 5 configured email addresses via your Wi-Fi network. Please carefully review the accuracy of all contact information submitted. (Pro Tip: Create a distribution list to exponentially increase number of email recipients.)
4. Confirmation Notification
Upon successful configuration, a confirmation email will be sent to each email address configured. Please check each email address to confirm receipt of the notification.
Remember to check your spam folder.
If a notification email is not received, check your Spam/Junk folder, then check your Wi-Fi connection and the range of your Wi-Fi router. If the detector is too far from the router and outside of the Wi-Fi’s range, the detector will be unable to connect to your network to send email notifications.
