Slice’s Utility Safety Blade (Pointed-Tip) is manufactured differently than traditional metal or even other types of ceramic blades. Slice safety blades are created using our proprietary double-angle grind that results in our finger-friendly blade edge. This edge cuts effectively, lasts up to 11 times longer than metal blades, and is much safer to touch than any standard blade (regardless of whether it’s a metal or ceramic blade). Our blades are made from 100 percent zirconium oxide, which is harder than stainless steel. To this, we apply our patent-pending double angle grind. This grind makes our blades true safety blades, by reducing the area of the blade that actually does the cutting. When it contacts the skin, this reduced cutting zone pushes the skin away from the blade, rather than piercing it, the way a traditional metal or ceramic blade would. Remember though, these blades are designed to cut, and with enough force, they can cut skin, too. These blades are especially well-suited to industrial applications, as they never rust, so they don’t need oil to prevent premature rusting. Our ceramic blades are also chemically inert, meaning there’s no chance of chemical reactions taking place while you cut. With a wide choice of compatible handles available, from our metal-handle utility knives (SKUs 10490 and 10491) to our mini scrapers (SKUs 10590 and 10594) and our EDC pocket knife (SKU 10496), this one blade satisfies many of your cutting or scraping needs. One touch of the edges on our safety blades and you’ll understand the Slice difference. The blade feels dull to the touch, but that’s the intentionally designed source of its safety. Use the blade to cut something. You’ll quickly see that what felt dull to the touch is exactly as sharp as it needs to be to cut a wide variety of materials. Supplied in convenient packs of two, our safety blades are also recyclable.
