Firmness Scale

Firmness refers to the comfy feel of the mattress topper and how hard or soft it is. It is not the same as support. Firmness can be highly subjective, support is not. We often refer to the firmness scale rating from 1 (extremely soft) to 10 (extremely firm). In many ways, achieving softness is much easier than firmness with a mattress topper. Medium-firm (4-6), common firmness level that offers a middle-ground with some plushness but more limited sink, recognize as a safe level to most of people, although most of the toppers have a firmness scale of 1 to 3 level on the market.

Thickness & Density Options

Toppers tend to fall in the range of between 2 to 4 inches thick. If you weigh more than average, you may need to look at thicker options. In addition, the density of a topper is important in determining how much support it will provide you. A topper that offers pressure point relief and keeps the spine in proper positioning is supportive regardless of how hard or soft that topper is. Foam density of 3 pounds per cubic foot or greater is considered high density and high quality, although most standard memory foam has a density of 1 to 3 lb/ft3 on the market.

Body Heat

Memory foam is a temperature-sensitive material that softens as it comes in contact with your body heat. This is what gives it the ability to contour to your body, but the foam can also get overly hot at night. The thicker and denser they are, the hotter they can feel, despite the attempts of manufacturers to add elements like gel cooling or ventilation tubes, however that is not enough. Don’t forget that the outside material can also contribute to the temperature by wicking away sweat, although most of toppers do not have a cover on the market, or even if they have a cover, the main function is to keep the topper clean and not to keep you feel cooling.

Don't be Deceived

In general, higher quality products tend to be more expensive. But a higher offer does not necessarily proven a better personal for you. This is to meet your needs, not just to buy the most expensive items you can afford.
