Changing your water filter is recommended once per year
Today, NAM (National Academy of Medicine) recommends an adult male to drink 15 cups of water and an adult female 11 cups. Having a clean water filter will easily encourage this as it gets rid of any bad taste/odor associated with having an old filter. Change yours today!
Brass fitting must be installed on the filter with o-ring next to filter body, do not use teflon tape on fitting. Do not overtighten with wrench
For installation on 1/4 inch copper or plastic tubing (cold water only)
Before installation, make sure there is enough slack in existing water line to allow refrigerator to be moved out from the wall
Shut off water supply to refrigerator. Select a convenient location to install the filter. The filter may be mounted horizontally or vertically
Cut water line to refrigerator (some water may leak from water line). Make sure the ends of the tubing are cut squarely and cleanly and are free of any internal or external burrs
For copper tubing (Figure 1)
1A. Hold filter so that the flow arrow on the label is pointing towards the refrigerator. Unscrew the nuts (A) from the fittings (C) and slide nuts (A) and brass sleeves (B) over the copper tubing. Connect tubing with nut (A) and sleeve (B)to fitting (C) and hand tighten. Using two wrenches tighten 1/2 to 1 turn. Continue to step 2.
For plastic tubing (Figure 2)
1B. Hold filter so that the flow arrow on the label is pointing towards the refrigerator. Unscrew the nuts (D) from the fittings (G) and slide nuts (D) and plastic sleeves (E) over the plastic tubing. Push insert (F) into tubing. Connect tubing with nut (D) and sleeve (E) and insert (F) into tubing. Connect tubing with nut (D) and sleeve (E) and insert (F) to fitting (G) and hand tighten. Using two wrenches tighten 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
2. Remove tubing from back of refrigerator. Turn on water supply and run water until it is clear, using a bucket to catch the water. This will flush excess air and black carbon powder out of the filter.
3. Turn water supply off. Reconnect tubing to refrigerator.
