Aluminum Oxide is a tough, durable abrasive grain characterized by the long life of its cutting edges and points. It is the most widely used of the man-made materials. This grain type is well suited for a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as on soft and hard woods. Our brand new 2" x 72" Aluminum Oxide Sanding Belts are made in the USA. Each belt is made with a durable polycotton blend backing. We suggest dry use only with the A/O belts (Zirconia + Ceramic are wet/dry). They are made with the premium A/O grains adhered to cloth that meets strict European standards. A-Ox is the original metalworking abrasive, but not the strongest (see ceramic/zirconia). These belts are designed for use on Al-composites, steel, wood, plastics and other metals. A/O belts are used where a consistent, low-cost product is needed. 2" x 72" belts are the most commonly used size in the knife making industry because of how versatile they are. This one belt can be used for sharpening, bevel work, detail work, profiling and more. Always wear the appropriate protective equipment when using these belts.
