We believe that the modern wet shaver has a baseline expectation from a modern shaving soap. It must be easy to lather, it must offer an adequate and slick layer of lubrication during the shave, it must leave the skin feeling supple and moisturized to the touch, and it must offer a subtle gentlemanly fragrance that does not overpower his aftershave. He is pleasantly surprised if he finds a soap that, apart from meeting these fundamental factors, exceeds his expectations on any of these fronts. We think we have an edge on the post-shave feel and the during-shave lubrication, but then again, every artisan probably feels that way about their shaving soap. We did not feel the need to formulate with a long list of ingredients just for the sake of it, since again we believe that the modern wet shaver is way too experienced to be beguiled by this and cares way too much about performance. The correct permutation of a few trustworthy ingredients and a diligent eye on the quality of the raw material works wonders. Our formulation using Virgin Coconut Oil, Grade 1 Unrefined Shea Butter, Glycerine and Stearic Acid, ensures enough stearic to ensure lather density, enough lauric to ensure lather volume, and enough oleic and glycerol to ensure a perfect balance of emollience and humectancy.
