ABOUT BALTIC AMBER - Amber can be useful in naturally treating any kind of pain & inflammation, including teething pain, which makes it a great alternative to traditional pain killers. The main considerations are making sure that it has good skin contact & avoiding soaps / oils / lotions which can coat and damage the amber.

DESIGNED FOR SAFETY - All of our amber is knotted between each bead and features a safety release. We offer most styles with either a POP or TWIST clasp, so parents can select their favorite. Baltic amber isn't for chewing, please measure and make sure that the sizing is correct before ordering. Also note that warehouse life is hard on real Baltic amber; please do a final inspection for cracked or broken beads before placing on your child.

We traveled as a family to visit the shop where our Baltic amber teething jewelry is made. We wanted to learn more about the process and be able to ensure that all of our Baltic amber is 100% authentic. It was an awesome experience!

It all starts with real, truly 'raw' Baltic amber. This is cut by hand into a smaller shape that can then be worked by machine.

There are many potential steps an amber bead can undergo as it makes its way through the workshop, most of which directly involve a Lithuanian craftsman.

We had the privilege of being guided through the workshop by the Baltic amber Master Artisan. These masters are the stewards of the knowledge of how to work with Baltic amber, a craft that is handed-down from generation to generation.

Let's just say that we took full advantage of the opportunity by asking him A LOT of questions (through a translator, our Lithuanian isn't so good).

After the beads are finished, they're made into jewelry by crafty work-at-home moms who are not a whole lot different than the ones who are getting them here in North America! :)

In the end it was amazing to see how much work and skill goes into the crafting of each bead! It gave us a new and deeper appreciation for the intrinsic value of this jewelry, as well as how it was creating jobs in a country where economic opportunities are still pretty scarce.
