Determine Placement of the Reel
- Round Pools: Install reel in the center of the pool.
- Oval Pools: Install the reel at the end of the pool before the radius.
- Rectangular Pools: Install the reel at one end of the pool.
- Free Form Pools: Install the reel at the widest point on the pool.
Determine Tube Length
Measure the pools width from inside edge to inside edge and add 6 inches. If the pool is less than 13 feet wide, use a metal saw to cut section 2 and make it shorter.
Assembly of Tubing
Place the 3 sections of tubing on the ground with section 2 inserted into section 1 and section 3. Adjust section 1 and 3 to the width of the pool plus 9 inches. Using a metal drill bit, drill a hole into section 1 going through to section 2 and secure the tubing together with the supplied neoprene fastener and hex head bolt. Repeat for section 3, drilling a hole through section 3 into section 2 securing with the neoprene fastener and a hex head bolt.
Assemble Reel Ends
Insert plug into the extruded aluminum tube. Place the bearing into the reel end. Place the reel end and bearing onto the extruded aluminum tube. Slide the handle into the bearing, reel end, and plug for the extruded aluminum tube. Secure the connection with a self tapping screw 1 inch from the tube end, inline with the bump on the plug. Repeat on the opposite side.
Reel Set-up Stationary/Caster/Mount
Place the reel with the long leg inline with the longest part of the pool. This is for a stationary application. To make the reel mobile add casters to the corners using the pre-drilled holes. If you’d like to wall mount the reel, use anchors and the necessary hex bolts to bolt it to the wall using the pre-drilled holes in the reel ends (before mounting make sure the wall can support the weight of the cover and the water it may hold).
Attaching Cover to Reel
Place the solar cover onto the surface of the water. The cover should already be cut to fit 100% of the pools surface. Use the solar cover reel attachment kit provided. Place the first strap 6 inches from the pools edge. Secure the strap to the tube with a self tapping screw. Repeat on the opposite side. Evenly space 8 additional straps in between the two end straps and secure them with self tapping screws to the tube. Use the plastic cover clips to secure the cover to the straps. Make sure to apply equal tension to all straps.
