Harlem holds a special place in Black history. During the decades of the Great Migration, Harlem provided the fertile soil in which Black culture in America was able to blossom.

The vibrant colors within this design speak to the lively energy that arrived in the neighborhoods of Harlem - to the passion that led to one of the greatest revivals in Black culture.

RENAISSANCE AfroPick

Through the words of storytellers like Zora Neale Hurston, our voices were heard. Through the sweet tunes of Louis Armstrong, our spirits understood. A renaissance is a revival - a renewal of what it is that makes us who we are.

The subdued hues of this design allude to the lax atmosphere of the streets and the playful melodies of jazz clubs in 1920s Harlem. This pick points to lost elements of Black culture that were renewed during the Harlem Renaissance.
