Before styling we recommend washing and conditioning with our award winning Scalp Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner. We also suggest that you avoid using other brands that may contain ingredients, such as silicone derivatives, that reduce the benefits of Scalp Rescue products.

Washing or conditioning hair with products containing synthetic silicone, dimethicone, cyclomethicone or similar ingredients - whose purpose is to impart high shine - is the most frequent cause for flaking of water-based styling products. These glossifying chemicals tend to create an impenetrable coating which prevents water-based products from adhering to the hair shaft thus causing flaking. Using products free of 'cones' is the best bet for water based styling products, e.g. our Scalp Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner.
