Which is better, the SX5000 WB (water based) or SX5000 (solvent based)? The life and performance benefits are identical between the Armor SX5000 and the Armor SX5000 WB, so one sealer is not better than the other. The ONLY difference is that the Armor SX5000 is solvent based and the Armor SX5000 WB is water based. Which sealer you choose is entirely based on your preference. Some customers prefer solvent based sealers and others prefer water based which is why we manufacturer both. If you don’t want to invest in a solvent resistant sprayer and are worried about noxious fumes or odors, the Armor SX5000 WB may be a better option for your application as it is water based.

How Does It Work?

The Armor SX5000 WB penetrates into the substrate where it chemically reacts to form a hydrophobic (water repellent) barrier within the pores. The hydrophobic barrier, which can last for up to 7-10 years, will reduce the absorption of surface water by up to 95%! By reducing the absorption of water on the surface, damage and deterioration caused by water absorption, such as cracking, spalling, pitting, and the growth of mold and mildew, will also be reduced. Even after the bead goes away, you will notice that the sealed surface dries faster and looks cleaner for years.

The Armor SX5000 WB is the perfect sealer for unsealed concrete, paver, brick, stucco and natural stone surfaces. Coverage & How to Apply

Coverage:

One gallon of the Armor SX5000 WB will cover up to 200 square feet per coat. Two coats are recommended to achieve the maximum life and performance benefits. Coverage can vary depending on the porosity of substrate and the application method.

Application:

The Armor SX5000 WB is very easy to apply.

Step 1: Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of any other sealers or coatings. If the surface has been pressure washed, allow at least 24 hours for the substrate to completely dry.

Step 2: Using a roller or sprayer, apply 1 even coat. While the surface is still wet, apply a second coat.

Step 3: Allow the surface 24 hours to fully react and dry. Do not apply if it is expected to rain within 24 hours. Ensure any irrigation systems are turned off, or directed away from the newly sealed surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this give me a wet look? No, the Armor SX5000 WB will not give you a wet look. The Armor SX5000 WB will not change the look or color and you surface will look exactly as it did before being sealed. If you want a wet look sealer, consider the Armor WL550, Armor AR350, or Armor AR500.

Will the surface be slippery when wet? No, the Armor SX5000 WB will not leave behind a slippery surface film. It works entirely below the surface in the pores.

Is the product UV stable? The Armor SX5000 WB works below the surface, inside the substrate. UV light can’t reach the SX5000 WB, therefore won’t cause it to deteriorate.

How long does the product last? The Armor SX5000 WB can last for up to 7-10 years before the need to reseal. The bead goes away within the first year, but you can see the product working for years after because the substrate will dry faster and look better than unsealed surfaces. You will also find that surfaces sealed with the Armor SX5000 WB are easier to clean and maintain.
