Soapstone Smudge Bowl
Each smudge bowl is carved from soapstone and unique in color and pattern! Encircling the outside of the bowl are etchings of beautiful roses and leaves. Catch the ashes of your sage stick in the bowl as you cleanse and rest the burning stick in the bowl when finished.
Palo Santo, also known as “Holy Wood”, is found in Mexico down to South America, and is burned during rituals and ceremonies for incense, dispelling misfortune and bad spirits, and to promote healing.
White Sage and Palo Santo have been used for centuries as a means of cleansing, and incense. Native Americans use sage in rituals or ceremonies of cleansing to purify and protect people or places of negative energies.
Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is an intensely aromatic tree native to South America. Its name translates to "Holy Wood" in Spanish, and has been used by saints and shamans alike for centuries. When burned, Palo Santo releases a fragrant smoke which many believe to uplift energy and aid in spiritual purification.
Use it to promote calm, relieve stress, and dispel misfortune. Burn it before meditation, to clear thoughts or focus concentration.
California White Sage
White sage (Salvia apiana), also known as sacred sage, is an evergreen perennial native to the Southwestern United States. This potent herb has been used for centuries by Native Americans in rituals of cleansing and healing. Many people continue this tradition today by holding their own sage smudging ceremonies.
White Sand
Use the sand to snub out your incense and hold the ash.
Remember to practice good fire safety and never leave a smoldering stick unattended. Pour the sand into your bowl and dampen the embers by snuffing the end against in the sand.
Some Palo Santo pieces may be Milled (Square) Cut
Each kit may contain hand-cut pieces and milled (square cut) pieces of Palo Santo.
The hand-cut brings a more natural look and feel to the incense while milling uses more of the wood to reduce waste. There is no difference in burning time or aroma when it comes to how the wood is cut.
Due to the natural variations of wood, please expect some differences in size, density, coloration, and aroma intensity in your incense bundle. No two trees are alike, they are all wonderfully unique.
