Discover Café de Loja

Our Café de Loja Premium coffee is a 100% Arabica high-altitude coffee with a medium to full body. Grown in the mountains of Ecuador, our coffee has a crisp fruity flavor, with intense aroma and no bitter aftertaste.

We are GMO free.

High Altitude Coffee is Flavorful Coffee
Grown 6233 Feet Above Sea Level
Strictly High Grown/Strictly Hard Bean

High-altitude coffee is highly sought after and loved by coffee aficionados for a reason.

Arabica beans love high altitudes, and the cool fresh air that comes with it. Our elevation encourages slow growth, and makes Café de Loja a dense rich coffee bean with deep, complex flavors.

Experience Café de Loja

Energy
Whether it’s that wonderful quiet time at the start of the day, or you need a midday pick-me-up, our coffee will give you the energy you need to achieve your goals.

Relaxation
There’s nothing quite as relaxing as sitting down with a fresh cup of coffee and taking a moment for yourself. You’ll feel the warm cup of Café de Loja in your hands, with that blissfully strong nutty scent of our coffee in your nose, and when you take that first sip, you’ll feel the warmth and flavor spread through your entire body.

Conversation
Something about sitting with a friend and sharing a cup of coffee with a friend just sparks meaningful conversation. That conversation is even better when the coffee is just as good as the company.

Have it YOUR WAY!

Brewing the perfect cup of coffee requires the very best ingredients.

Having great coffee is obvious, and that’s Café de Loja.

Water
Did you know that the water is just as important? Bad water makes bad coffee. Use bottled spring water for the best cup. Avoid using distilled water, unfiltered municipal water, or softened water.

Whatever you do, don’t start with hot water from the tap.

Coffee to Water Ratio
All coffee beans have different densities, so use weight when possible.

You’ll want to use 6 fluid ounces of water for every 110.6 grams (approx. 2 tablespoons) of coffee.

Brewing Process
There are way too many great methods to brew coffee, so follow the directions on your brewer the first few times with a new coffee, then feel free to experiment!
Even though we can’t list all the methods, here are a few tips:
     ● Use the right grind. Don’t assume the finer the grind the stronger the coffee.
     ● Timing is important - Under-extracted coffee is boring, but Over-extracted coffee is bitter.
     ● Do what makes you happy - If you like it, keep doing it, even if is against the “coffee rules”

Café de Loja uses only hand picked red cherries.

After being picked, they’re sorted to remove any cherries that don’t meet our high standards for our premium coffee.

Cherries are wet processed to remove the coffee bean from the cherry and wash the beans. After being dried, beans are roasted by our SCAE certified roasters to our strict roasting profile, rested, and then packaged for delivery to your doorstep.

Our owner, Vinicio Dávila, is from Cariamanga, Loja, Ecuador, where all of our beans are produced. Above you can see him (top left) assisting in training a new employee to identify the right coffee to harvest.

Vinicio is dedicated to supporting Cariamanga by providing the tools and education to produce great coffee, and jobs for the community.

Every year International judges are invited to the Taza Dorada Championship coffee competition in Ecuador.

Our caficultors are consistently placed in the top 3 each year and won the competition six times.
